Daniel Sabia

Daniel Sabia, 75, of Bangor, beloved husband, cherished father, precious grandfather, and esteemed colleague passed away Thursday at his home.  Born in Hazleton, he was the son of the late Martin and Agnes (Kanyuck) Sabia.

Daniel worked his way up from extreme poverty to self-made success.  He was an United States Army Veteran during the Vietnam War.  He was employed as an industrial maintenance engineer, maintenance teacher at Trenton State Prison and Director of facilities in the NJ Public School System.  He retired in 2006 from Rockaway Twp. Board of Education.

Surviving are his wife Gloria Hull-Sabia; son Daniel and his wife Marjolijn and their children Julia and Max Sabia, Netherlands; daughter Jennifer and her husband Rodrigo and her their son Cristian Lopez, Sherborn, MA; and son Lawrence Mark and his wife Christina and their children Connor Christiansen and Juliana Sabia, Center Valley, PA.

Dan will be eternally missed by his wife Gloria, who always knew the depth of his honest love.

His funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 4th, at 11 A.M. in the Joseph A. Moran Funeral Home, 229 W. 12th St., Hazleton, with the Reverend Dr. M. Jane Hess officiating.  Burial will be in St. Peter and Paul’s Eastern Greek Catholic Cemetery, Freeland.  The family will receive friends in the funeral home on Tuesday from 5-8 P.M. and Wednesday morning from 9 A.M. until the time of service.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital.
