    • Obituary
      Lori Ann Starr, 61, of Perkasie, PA, passed away Friday, October 27, 2023 at Jefferson Einstein Hospital, Philadelphia after a brief illness.  Born in Hazleton, she was the daughter of Rosalie (Veraldi) Starr and the late Louis Starr Jr.
       
      Lori attended Bloomsburg State College where she majored in Special Education and was a proud Sigma Sigma Sigma sister. She later obtained her Master’s Degree from Wilkes University. Lori was a dedicated and enthusiastic educator spending most of her career in Centennial School District in Bucks County where she was beloved by her students.
       
      Preceding her in death, in addition to her father, was her brother Gary Starr in 2005.
       
      Surviving, in addition to her mother, is her husband of 27 years Greg Patterson; sister Karen Starr; nieces Carlie Starr and Kelsey Boyd; and nephews Jared Starr and Ryan Patterson.
       
      Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, November 3rd, at 10 A.M. in Queen of Heaven Parish at Our Lady of Grace Church, Hazleton. Burial will be at a later date.  The family will receive friends on Friday morning in the church from 9-10 A.M.
       
      In lieu of flowers or gifts, donations to any animal welfare or educational support organization would be appreciated. Some of Lori’s favorite charities were: Bucks County SPCA, ASPCA, Brookline Labrador Retriever Rescue and The North Shore Animal League. The Joseph A. Moran Funeral Home, 229 W. 12th St., Hazleton, is in charge of the arrangements.

      "You are my Sunshine, my only Sunshine, you make me happy when skies are gray...."  I worked with Lori briefly in a classroom where she began every morning singing this song with the kids.  I loved those moments to start our day.  I will think of her everytime the song pops in my head. Peace and hugs and smiles.
