      Thomas P. Shemansky, 82, of Hazleton passed away Tuesday evening at the VA Medical Center Hospice Care Unit, Wilkes-Barre.  Born in Hazleton, he was the son of the late Walter and Anna (Baka) Shemansky and was a member of Queen of Heaven Parish at Our Lady of Grace Church, Hazleton.
       
      Tom was an Air Force Veteran having served during the Vietnam War.  He was a mechanic for Penske Truck Leasing for 35 years.  Tom was a member of the Hazleton Owls Rod and Gun club for over 55 years.  He enjoyed watching car racing, going to the gym, woodworking, Reading Phillies baseball games and going to breakfast with his friends. Tom loved spending time with his granddaughter, the apple of his eye.
       
      Preceding him in death, in addition to parents, were his infant sister Mary Theresa; father-in law and mother-in-law Johnny and Tootsie Gaudio; brother-in-law William Tarapchak; and nephew and godson William Brian Tarapchak.
       
      Surviving are his loving wife of 53 years, the former Carol Gaudio; son Thomas Shemansky and his wife Linda; granddaughter Lauren Elizabeth Shemansky; brother Edward Shemansky and wife Mary Ann, Tresckow; sister Theresa Tarapchak, Drums; brother-in-law John “Ginzo” Gaudio; and nieces and nephews.
       
      His funeral will be held on Monday, December 9th, at 9:30 A.M. in the Joseph A. Moran Funeral Home, 229 W. 12th St., Hazleton. His Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10 A.M in Queen of Heaven Parish at Our Lady of Grace Church.  Burial will be in Our Lady of Grace Cemetery.  The family will receive friends in the funeral home on Sunday, December 8th, from 6:30-8:30 P.M.
