    • Obituary
      Elizabeth "Betty" L. Scaran Racho, 80, of Beaver Meadows, passed away Wednesday at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Hazleton. Born in Hazleton, she was the daughter of the late Gerald and Mary (Witchey) Scaran and was a member of St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church, Hazleton.

      She was last employed by Lehigh Valley Hazleton in the dietary department.

      Surviving are her husband of 59 years, Thomas Racho; sons Matthew Racho and his wife Jennifer, NJ, and Thomas J. Racho, at home; granddaughter Hope Elizabeth Racho; brothers Gerald Scaran, Lansford, and Jacob Scaran, Hazleton; and nieces and nephews.

      Her Divine Liturgy with Office of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, September 16th, at 9 A.M. in St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Drums. The family will receive friends on Wednesday at the Joseph A. Moran Funeral Home, 229 W. 12
      th St. Hazleton, from 6-8 P.M. A Parastas will be held on Wednesday night in the funeral home at 8 P.M.

      In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. John the Baptist Byzantine Church, 5 E. 20
      th St., Hazleton, PA 18201, or to the Kidney Center, 426 Airport Rd., Hazle Twp., PA 18202.

      My deepest sympathy to the Racho family.  I was blessed to know Betty from St. John's school, and Hazleton General Hospital.  She always had a smile and a kind word.  May she rest in peace.
