John G. Obarra, Jr., 66, of Hazleton, passed away Wednesday at his home. Born in Hazleton, he was the son of the late Elizabeth (Lizzy Roman) Obarra and John “Bottler” Obarra.

John was born and lived in Hazleton for most of his life. He had overwhelming pride in family and was dedicated in keeping his very large family connected with important life events. Holiday gatherings and a “happy birthday” card, message or phone call to his nieces and nephews were never missed. John had always look forward to planning and attending the Greco-Roman family reunions where everyone, especially the kids, sought him out to say hello. He was also a decades long fixture at the polls on Election Day. John was that rare good soul who made countless friends and close acquaintances.

Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, were his sister Elizabeth Rossi and brother-in-law Louis Rossi.

Surviving are nephews Louis Rossi Jr., and his wife Colleen and Gregory Rossi; great nieces Carly, Justine, and Rebecca Rossi; and many cousins.

His Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, November 20th, at 10 A.M. in Queen of Heaven Parish at Our Lady of Grace Church, Hazleton. Burial will be in Our Lady of Grace Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and close friends in the church from 9:30 A.M. until the time of mass.

      The Joseph A. Moran Funeral Home, 229 W. 12
th St., Hazleton is in charge of the arrangements.
