Jeffrey J. McGran, 59, of Hazleton, passed away Thursday morning at Mountaintop Senior Care. Born in Hazleton, he was the son of the late Dale and Catherine (Chesko) McGran.

Iggy, as Jeff was best known to his closest friends, spent the past decade caring for others, bemoaning his beloved Eagles, and arguing politics with anyone brave enough to enter the fray. In his spare time, he took on painting, roofing and construction jobs for a number of local contractors.

Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, was a brother, Joseph.

Surviving are brothers, John, Hazleton, James, Hazleton, and Jayme, West Hazleton; sisters, Cathy Balliet, Rock Glen, and Carol, Hazleton; a daughter, Isis Meyers, Hazleton; a grandson, Preston Meyers, and many nieces and nephews.

His funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. A private memorial gathering will be held in March.

Dear Jim and Family, I am very sorry to hear about your brother.  He was a pistol, just remembering when you painted my house and he would come by and help...he was something!  May he rest in peace and my God be with him.
