    • Obituary
      Joseph A. Marchese, 84, formerly of Hazleton, passed away Friday night at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Hazleton. Born in Hazleton, he was the son of the late Andrew and Mary (Evangelista) Marchese and was a member of St. John Bosco Church, Sugarloaf.

      He was an Air Force Veteran and worked for and retired from the Fire Department in the city of Hazleton, and the State Liquor Stores.

      Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, were his wife the former Grace R. Colombo on December 19, 2020; brothers Michael, Anthony, and Rocco Marchese; and sisters Lucy Crease, Theresa Vaccaro, and Anna Marie Tombasco.

      Surviving are his daughters Jacqueline Wolk and her husband Albert, Sugarloaf, and Nadine Lubrecht and her husband Donald, Conyngham; grandchildren Todd, A.J., Ryan, and Olivia Wolk, and Garret Oswald; brother Andrew Marchese; and numerous nieces and nephews.

      We know that Grace and Joe are at peace together again in heaven dancing up a storm to the big band sounds of yesteryear.

      His Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 8th, at 10 A.M. in St. John Bosco Church, Sugarloaf. Burial will be in Most Precious Blood Cemetery, Hazleton. The family will receive friends in the Joseph A. Moran Funeral Home, 229 W. 12
      th St., Hazleton, on Thursday, January 7th, from 6-8 P.M. All are welcome to attend, but Covid-19 restrictions will be in place.

      Jackie, Nadine & family— my deepest sympathies on the loss of your father.  I guess he couldn’t wait too long to meet back up with your mom.  At least they are together & at peace.  RIP Joe

      Tom and I are so sorry to hear of the passing of your Dad, Joe.  We will never forget the wonderful "Card Club" summer parties at Hickory Run!  We were always all family and had enjoyed spending  time with you!    Please know our thoughts and Prayers are with you, at this time!!  Be consoled in the  promise they are together forever!!  After the dancing, Imagine the Cards they are playing, with no looses, as They are Together forever in Heaven!!  Love and Prayers to both of your families!!   Joell and Tom OLenik!!!
