Gregg F. Joseph, 75, of Hazle Twp., passed away Thursday at Greenwood Center Nursing and Rehabilitation, Tamaqua.  Born in Washington D.C. he was the son of the late Joseph J. and Doris (Chegwidden) Joseph.

He graduated from Hazleton High School, class of 1967 and graduated from Kings College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration.  He worked at the Red Rocks Job Corps, Keystone Job Corp Center, Dorr Oliver, and Hazle Oil Salvage.  He was a member of the Hazle Azalea Fellowship Lodge #327.

Polio struck Gregg in 1953, when he was just 4 years old.  He fought through the illness using an iron lung and numerous surgeries, inspiring friends and family with his determination to live a full life.  Gregg used his intelligence and his energy to be productive and never thought of himself as a cripple or handicap.

Gregg took a lot of pride in being a positive role model for others. More than anything, I believe he would want others to know they are capable of great things.

Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, was his brother Robert Joseph.

Surviving are his brother James and his wife MaryBeth (Michelin) Joseph; niece Amber; nephews James and wife Sarah, and Bret and wife Alyssa; great nephews James Pasco and Bryce; great niece Isabel.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Tunnel to Towers or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital

His Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, November 30th at 10 A.M. in Queen of Heaven Parish at Our Lady of Grace Church, Hazleton.  Burial will be in Our Lady of Grace Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Saturday morning in the church from 9-10 A.M.
