Rose Mary Friendy joined her beloved son Michael John in Heaven on Monday. She was the daughter of the late John J. and Nellie Dugan Carr, and stepmother Evelyn Carr.

A lifelong Hazleton resident, she was a graduate of Hazleton High School. She was a member of Queen of Heaven Parish at Our Lady of Grace Parish, Hazleton, and taught CCD to the First Holy Communion class for years.

A polished professional, she worked as an Administrative Assistant at Dorr-Oliver, PA Nurses Assoc, and Highway Equipment and Supply Co, from where she retired.

Rose Mary was always impeccably dressed, matching every accessory to her outfit, even when she was cleaning. With her infectious laugh, she made friends with everyone she met. Her favorite topic of conversation was her cherished granddaughter Alyssa Rose Fisher, of whom she was so proud. Alyssa was the light of her life.

Rose Mary loved reading, doing arts and crafts, especially her needlepoint works of art. She had a green thumb that could keep poinsettias alive for years. She did not pass this trait to her kids. Her love of baking and candy making were only surpassed by her friends' and family's love of eating her confections. Her Easter pies were a favorite of many.  She loved animals, taking care of the birds and deer in her yard. She and her faithful dog Molly were inseparable and are now reunited.

Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents and son was her companion Thomas McAndrew.  In addition to Alyssa, Rose Mary is survived by her daughter, Gina, and son-in-law, Warren Fisher.

Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, December 23rd, at 10 A.M. in Queen of Heaven Parish at Our Lady of Grace Church.  Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Drums.  The family will receive friends on Friday morning in the Joseph A. Moran Funeral Home, 229 W. 12th St., Hazleton, from 8:30-9:30 A.M.

Donations in her name can be made to the Hazleton Area Public Library and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
