Obituary
John J. Demko, 95, of Hazleton, passed away Saturday at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Hazleton surrounded by his family. Born in Hazleton, he was the son of the late Michael and Mary (Piskorick) Demko and was a member of St. John’s Byzantine Catholic Church, Hazleton.
He was an Army Veteran, serving during the Korean War. He worked as a foreman with the Hazle Township Road Maintenance Department. John was a lifetime member of the Hazleton Owls Rod and Gun Club. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and gardener and enjoyed these activities until just recently.
Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, were his siblings George Demko, Michael Demko, Mary Mordella, Joseph Demko, Marlene Gugliemini, Martha Plitnick, and Peter Demko. He was also preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Melissa Molinaro.
Surviving are his wife of 67 years, the former Nella Pauline; daughters Sharon Kello and husband Paul; Pamela Hay and husband Jody, and son-in-law, Angelo Molinaro as well as his grandchildren; Gregory and Daniel Molinaro, Julia Vazquez, and Mattie, Ryan and Evan Hay and great grandson, Louie Vazquez. Additional survivors include brothers and sisters in law as well as several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on Wednesday, November 26th at the Joseph A. Moran Funeral Home, 229 W. 12th St., Hazleton. Visitation will be from 11:00-12:30 followed by a Byzantine Catholic Funeral Service. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Drums. -
