      Charles A. Degilio, 92, passed away peacefully Thursday in the loving arms of the staff at Fritzingertown Senior Living Community, where he has been a resident of 3 months. Prior to residing at Fritzingertown Evergreen Unit, Charles resided with his daughter in Conyngham. Born in Nesquehoning, he was the son of the late Vito and Josephine (Alonge) Degilio.

      He was an Army/Air Force Veteran after World War II in Alaska and was an inspector for Mack Trucks in Allentown.

      Charles was a gentle soul with smiling eyes. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather. He was the 1
      st born son and was the apple of his mother’s eye. Everyone in the family looked up to him and he was an avid New York Yankees fan.

      Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, were his wife in 2018, the former Matilda Ann Sando; son Charles Degilio; sisters Jeanette, Marie, and Josephine; and brothers Michael and Salvatore.

      Surviving are his daughter Mary Ann Lazar and her husband Michael; his most beloved grandchildren Ashley and her fiancé Anthony, Christopher and his wife Jamie, and Marissa; sisters Antionette and Theresa; brothers William, Nicholas, Joseph, and David; and numerous nieces and nephews.

      Funeral services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. The Joseph A. Moran Funeral Home, 229 W. 12
      th St., Hazleton, is in charge of the arrangements.

      The family would like to thank the staff at Fritzingertown Evergreen Unit for the utmost, exceptional, and loving care of Charles during his short time there.

      In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be sent to the Evergreen Unit at Fritzingertown, 159 S. Old Turnpike Rd., Drums PA.
