Barbara A. DeSpirito (Lindsey), 80, of Hazleton, was called home on September 25th, surrounded by the love of the family she cherished so deeply. Born in New York, Barbara was the daughter of Yolanda Lindsey, who preceded her in death.
She was a brilliant, determined woman with a wonderful sense of humor who brought joy and laughter to those fortunate enough to know her. It was in New York that Barbara met the love of her life, Dominic DeSpirito. Together, they built a beautiful life and raised their four children, creating a family that would grow to include generations of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Barbara is survived by her loving husband, Dominic; her brother, Ralph Lindsey, and sister-in-law, Donna Lindsey; and her four children: Donna Cullen (DeSpirito) and her husband, Stephen; Dominic DeSpirito Jr. and his wife, Mary; Toni Stola (DeSpirito) and her husband, Michael; and Anthony DeSpirito and his wife, Paula (Nemshick). She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren: Matthew Cullen, Keith Cullen, Christopher DeSpirito, Dominique DeSpirito, Brittany Berkheimer, Amber Greco, Travis Denke, Brooke Denke Cassandra Santos, Edward Shoepe Jr., Justin Nemshick, Samantha DeSpirito; as well as many great-grandchildren who brought tremendous joy to her life.
Barbara was happiest when she was keeping busy. She loved crafting, baking, reading, and, above all, spending time with her family. Whether she was creating something with her hands, sharing something she had baked, or simply enjoying the company of those she loved, Barbara had a way of making ordinary moments memorable. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. The light, laughter, and love she brought into this world will not leave with her, but will live on through her family and the countless joyful memories they shared.
Calling hour will be on Wednesday September 30th from 9-10 A.M. at the Joseph A. Moran Funeral Home, 229 W. 12th St., Hazleton with a service to follow at the funeral home. - Guestbook
