      Joan A. DeMatt, 84, of Hazleton passed away Wednesday morning at St. Luke Pavilion. Born in Hazleton, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Irene (Shambelan) Parise and was a member of Our Lady of Peace Parish at Our Lady of Grace Church, Hazleton.

      She worked alongside her husband at their restaurant the Wine Cellar.

      Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, was her husband James Luciano DeMatt in 2015.

      Surviving are her step children Debbie Marchese and her husband Marco, Kathy Barletta, James DeMatt and wife Dorothy, and Alyce Nicholas and her companion Timothy Joseph; step grandchildren Marco and David Marchese, Jennifer Combellack, Nichole Schmidt, Rachel Barletta, James DeMatt, Nickolene Espinal, Gabriel Gerenza, Vanessa Torre, and Michael Nicholas; step great grandchildren Brittany Friendy, Adrianna and Brielle Combellack, Manuel Espinal Jr., Luna Espinal, Jordan and Madison Marchese, and Lucy Gerenza.

      Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 18th, at 10 A.M. in Our Lady of Peace Parish at Our Lady of Grace Church.  Burial will be in Our Lady of Grace Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday morning in the church from 9-10 A.M.

      The Joseph A. Moran Funeral Home, 229 W. 12th St., Hazleton is in charge of the arrangements.
