Obituary
Lillie A. (Dragonette) Cabell, 85, of Hazleton, entered into heaven on Friday evening. Born in Hazleton, she was the daughter of the late Carmen “Herman” and Lillie (Christino) Dragonette. She was a member of Queen of Heaven Parish at Our Lady of Grace Church, Hazleton.
Lillie was a 1954 graduate of Hazleton Senior High School. She was a bookkeeper and tax consultant for most of her life. Later in life she worked in retail at Boscov’s Department Store. As a reunion committee co-chairperson, Lillie was instrumental in planning and organizing the Class of 1954 reunions and events. She continued to do so until their 65th class reunion in 2019.
Lillie was passionate about spending time with her entire family. She loved hosting Christmas Eve. She was famous for her homemade lasagna and Easter pies. Lillie loved reminiscing and telling stories. She had a great memory for detail making it easy for her to pass on family history and traditions. Lillie enjoyed playing cards and was a member of card clubs throughout her life. She had a sharp and creative mind. Lillie enjoyed reading, learning new things such as calligraphy and Italian, and faithfully watching Jeopardy.
Lillie is preceded in death by her mother and father as well as her brother Carl Dragonette, and her sister Frances Lusky.
Surviving are her husband of 62 years, Mauro Cabell; Daughter Lisa Valentine (Brian) of Drums; Son Mauro Cabell (Maria) of Easton; Daughter Judi Kunkle (Brian) of Weatherly. She is also survived by grandchildren Brian (Britany), Dominic, Nicholas (Abby), Laura (Michael), Evan, and Lilli; and great-grandson Bryce.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 17th, at 10 A.M. in Queen of Heaven Parish at Our Lady of Grace Church. Private burial will be held in Our Lady of Grace Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6-8 P.M. and Friday morning from 8:45-9:45 A.M. in the Joseph A. Moran Funeral Home 229 W. 12th St., Hazleton.
