    • Obituary
      Laura L. Borchetta, 84, of Hazle Twp., passed away Monday at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Hazleton.  Born in Hazleton, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Lillian (Wachter) George.
       
      Laura was a Hazleton High School graduate class of 1955, where she was in the accelerated academic program.  She received her nursing degree from St. Joseph’s Nursing School, Reading, and then went to work at the Veteran’s Hospital in New Jersey where she met her husband, Dr. Charles Borchetta.  She received a bachelorette's degree from Glassboro State College, NJ, and received her master’s degree from Misericordia.  Laura was a school nurse for 18 years at the Glenn Landing School, NJ.  After many years in New Jersey, they moved to Pennsylvania where Laura worked in the local various nursing homes as a director of nursing, an assistant director of nursing, and an RN supervisor.  She worked in the nursing field for 49 years before retiring.  She was an avid reader and loved to do puzzles such as wonderwords, sudoku, and crosswords.  She also enjoyed several trips to Disney World with her family, a once in a lifetime trip to Italy, and a trip to Las Vegas Casinos and she also enjoyed playing at our local casinos. 
       
      Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, was her grandson Woody Miles, in 2018; and sister Arlene Ferdinand.
       
      Surviving are her husband of 62 years, Dr. Charles Borchetta; daughters Arlene Borchetta, also a nurse, and Lisa Stewart; great granddaughter Adriana Rae Miles; and nieces and nephews.
       
      At Laura's request, her funeral services will be held privately.
       
      The Joseph A. Moran Funeral Home, 229 W. 12th St., Hazleton, is in charge of the arrangements.
